one year ago...

One year ago today we saw his darling face for the first time. I'm pretty sure that we memorized that first picture and it will remain in my mind forever. You can read what that day was like here.

Miles has been home with us for more than 6 months now- and it's safe to say that we could not imagine our lives without him. He is such an absolute joy to us. He says some clever and adorable things. Lately, "I lah loo sooooo much" has melted me into a puddle- and every night before bedtime when he wants to "nuggle (snuggle) Mommy Daddy" that we know is just his putting off going to sleep- but how can we resist?! We definitely have our challenging moments too. Lots of testing the rules and timeouts, but he's almost 2 1/2, so this wasn't unexpected!

My gratitude to our heavenly father for this most precious gift has been overflowing lately. I'm just overwhelmed at His goodness- it's so clear that His hand was all over Miles' beginning in this world and our journeys to one another. And I find myself thinking of his birth mother every day. I pray that in the time we were able to meet she understood how much we would love him...I wish I could hop on a plane tomorrow to show her pictures and tell her the funny things he is doing. We really hope that is in our future.
